Notice: Supervisor of Elections

An employee in this class works as part of the management team of the Election System, under the direction of the Joint Boards of Elections, in planning and implementing election and voter registration activities in the administration of local and federal elections for the respective district.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must work directly with the Joint Boards of Elections and Boards in each District. Assist in planning, organizing, coordinating and directing activities of all Elections for the Territory of the Virgin Islands. Analytical thinking is an important asset, as they are often required to prioritize the work, and develop processes that monitor progress and performance for the agency. Prepare and monitors budget for the respective District Boards of Elections and the Office of the Supervisor of Elections. Assist in the interpretation and implementation of laws rules, regulations, and codes applicable to election activities in the Virgin Islands. Provide input in long-range plans to accomplish required administrative, fiscal and technical activities within specified legal deadlines. Be able to work independently with initiative and good judgment. Execute power, duties and functions as outlined in Title 18 section 4, Virgin Islands Code.

NATURE OF DUTIES:

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in political science, economics, public or business administration, or related field, plus managerial experience dealing with personnel, procurement and budgetary matters and (8) years administrative and supervisory experience.

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Professional experience in relation with the high level administrative work. Laws, rules and regulations governing the registration of voters and the administration of election in the Territory of the Virgin Islands, specifically detailed in Title 18 of the Virgin Islands Code. Principles of supervison, budget preparation and monitoring and personnel management. Techniques of public relation and modern office practices.
