Elections

The Election System of the Virgin Islands organizes and oversees all election activity, including voter registration and territory elections.

General elections in the Virgin Islands occur every two years. Elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.  This date coincides with Federal elections.  Those who are up for reelection every two (2) years are:

  • The Virgin Islands Congressional Representative

  • One-half of the Board of Education

  • One-half of the Board of Elections

  • All members of the Virgin Islands Legislature (Senate)

The election for governor and lieutenant governor is held every four (4) years during even-numbered years that are not leap years (years divisible by 2 but not 4).
