FBI Closes Case on General Election Night Video Confirming No Fraudulent or Criminal Activity

The Elections System of the Virgin Islands (ESVI) was contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding a circulating video on social media involving an Elections System employee performing standard duties during the election night vote count on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. The FBI received numerous complaints and investigated the matter. The FBI subsequently discussed the case with the US Attorney General’s Office in Washington, D.C., and both agencies confirmed that no fraudulent or criminal activity occurred during the counting of votes.

2022 GENERAL ELECTION AUDIT COMPLETED

The Board of Elections has completed the audit of the 2022 General Election. The successful audit ensures that voting systems operated accurately. As Board of Elections Chairman, Raymond J. Williams stated prior to the audit, two voting centers were randomly selected by the Board Members in both the St. Croix and St. Thomas/St. John voting Districts.

CERTIFICATION OF 2022 GENERAL ELECTION RESULTS

Please be advised that the Board of Elections certified the 2022 General Election on Friday, November 18, 2022. Official Results of the 2022 General Election can be picked up at the Elections System offices or visit our website, vivote.gov. Office locations are as follows:

St. Thomas Elections Office- Lockhart Gardens (Upstairs Banco Popular)

2022 GENERAL ELECTION CANVASSING OF ABSENTEE BALLOTS

On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, the Board of Elections resumed counting the 2022 General Election Absentee Ballots. In the St. Croix District, a total of 394 absentee ballots were counted and, in the St. Thomas-St. John District, a total of 548 absentee ballots have been counted. A total of 78 Provisional Ballots were counted from the St. Thomas- St. John District. Please see the attached unofficial reports with the updated contest as of Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

2022 GENERAL ELECTION CANVASSING OF ABSENTEE BALLOTS

On Monday, November 14, 2022, the Board of Elections resumed counting the 2022 General Election Absentee Ballots. In the St. Croix District, 315 absentee ballots were counted with an outstanding balance of 73 ballots. In the St. Thomas-St. John District, 450 absentee ballots were counted with an outstanding balance of 71. A total of 102 Provisional Ballots will be vetted from the St. Thomas- St. John District. VOTER REGISTRATION REOPENS ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2022

Pursuant to Title 18 Section 94 (c), Supervisor of Elections Caroline F. Fawkes announces the reopening of voter registration on Monday, November 14, 2022. Office locations and time are as follows:

St. Croix Elections Office-Sunny Isles Shopping Center, Unit 26
(8:30 AM to 4:30 PM daily)

St. Thomas Elections Office- Lockhart Gardens (Upstairs Banco Popular)
(8:30 AM to 4:30 PM daily)

St. John Elections Office- Market Place Suite II.
(Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM)

2022 GENERAL ELECTION CANVASSING OF ABSENTEE BALLOTS

On Thursday, November 10, 2022, the Board of Elections began counting the 2022 General Election Absentee Ballots. In the St. Croix District, 125 absentee ballots were counted with an outstanding balance of 240 ballots. In the St. Thomas-St. John District, 222 absentee ballots were counted with an outstanding balance of 206. Please see the attached unofficial reports with the updated contest.

The Board of Elections will resume the counting of absentee ballots on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 2:00 PM. Office locations are as follows:

Supervisor of Elections, Caroline F. Fawkes, announces the unofficial results of the 2022 General Election held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. The results include votes cast for 2022 General Election Early Voting, which was held October 10-31, 2022, and Election Day.
