2022 PRIMARY ELECTION - 2022 EARLY VOTING NUMBERS SURPASS THOSE OF 2018

Early Voting for the 2022 Primary Election ended on Monday, August 1, 2022, with a record-breaking number of 4,418 electors participating, surpassing those of 2018. Of the 34, 697 registered Democrats territory wide, 13% participated in Early Voting. The break down per district is as follows: St. Thomas – 2,182, St. Croix -2,131 and St. John-105.

The Primary Election will take place on Saturday, August 6, 2022. The following is a list of Voting Centers by district:

LAST DAY TO DAY TO EARLY VOTE FOR THE 2022 PRIMARY ELECTION IS MONDAY, AUGUST 1, 2022

Supervisor of Elections, Mrs. Caroline Fawkes, is informing the public the last day to Early Vote for the 2022 Primary Election is Monday, August 1, 2022. Supervisor Fawkes wants to thank all electors who came in to cast their ballots. Early voting hours are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. On St. John Early Voting begins at 9:00 AM and closes at 4:00 PM. ELECTORS’ INTEREST IN EARLY VOTING CONTINUE TO RISE WITH A STEADY FLOW

Voters continue to turn out in steady numbers to cast their votes during Early Voting for the 2022 Democratic Primary Election. Supervisor of Elections, Caroline F. Fawkes, is satisfied with the turn out thus far and expects an increase throughout the weekend. Voting Centers are open on Saturday and Sunday.

TUTU PARK MALL VOTING CENTER TO REOPEN THURSDAY, JULY 28TH

Supervisor of Elections, Caroline F. Fawkes, is pleased to announce after a temporary closure of the Tutu Park Mall Voting Center due to COVID-19, the Voting Center will reopen on Thursday, July 28, 2022. The System was able to employ additional poll workers to support the reopening.

Supervisor Fawkes stated the facility has been sanitized following the guidelines of the Department of Health and emphasized the priority of staff and poll workers.

Supervisor of Elections, Caroline F. Fawkes, wishes to inform the public of recent changes to the locations of the 2022 Primary Election Voting Centers territory wide. Supervisor Fawkes stated, “due to unforeseen maintenance issues at the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School on St. Thomas and the Claude O. Markoe Elementary School on St. Croix, changes were necessary to accommodate voters and poll workers.” Voting Centers for the 2022 Primary Election are as follows:

2022 PRIMARY ELECTION - 1,766 Voters Cast Ballot In Five Days

Supervisor of Elections, Mrs. Caroline Fawkes, reminds everyone that Early Voting continues through Monday, August 1, 2022. Early Voting Centers are open on Saturdays and Sundays territory-wide from 9:00AM-6:00PM on St. Croix and St. Thomas and 9:00AM-4:00PM on St. John. “We are urging the public to please take advantage of this opportunity and Early Vote to avoid the lines on Election Day”, said Supervisor Fawkes.

POLL WATCHERS NOTICE

Pursuant to Title 18 Section 552(a) which states, (a) Each candidate for nomination or election at a primary may appoint two watchers in each polling place in which such candidate is to be voted for.

The Board of Elections is requesting candidates in the 2022 Primary Election to submit a list of names for poll watchers and specify the polling place the poll watcher will be assigned. Please Note: A candidate may only appoint two watchers in each Voting Center.
