POLL WATCHERS NOTICE

The Board of Elections is requesting the respective Party leadership (Democratic, Republican, ICM) and Independent candidates in the 2022 General Election to submit a list of names for poll watchers and specify the Voting Center, that each poll watcher will be assigned. For example, in the St. Croix District, there are five (5) Vote Centers, so please specify up to three (3) poll watchers per Vote Center.

ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE FOR 2022 GENERAL ELECTION

Supervisor of Elections, Caroline F. Fawkes, reminds the public that Absentee Applications are available for the 2022 General Election scheduled for Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

Please be reminded, you must apply by Tuesday, October 11, 2022, for any Absentee Ballot that must be mailed. This requirement is mandated to coordinate the timely delivery of your ballot with the United States Postal System. Application forms are available at the Elections System website- www.vivote.gov or any Elections System offices.

ELECTIONS SYSTEM VOTER REGISTRATION EXPO SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2022

Supervisor of Elections, Caroline F. Fawkes, wishes to inform the community of the Elections System National Voter Registration Expo. The Expo will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, territory wide, from 9:00am-3:00pm. The Expo is held bi-annually in recognition of National Voter Registration with the intent of promoting voter registration before the General Election and the close of Voter Registration. The General Election will be held on November 8, 2022, and the last day to register to vote is October 9, 2022.

STUDENTS ELIGIBLE TO REGISTER TO VOTE

Supervisor of Elections Caroline F. Fawkes would like to advise the community, particularly parents and principals, that students seventeen and a half (17 ½) years of age are eligible to register to vote if they will be eighteen (18) years of age on or before November 8, 2022. The last day of voter registration to participate in the 2022 General Election is Sunday, October 9, 2022. The registration process is simple and very transparent. BOARD OF ELECTIONS AND THE OFFICE OF THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY

The Elections System of the Virgin Islands join the nation in celebrating National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. National Voter Registration Day is a civic holiday in the United States. The day seeks to create broad awareness of voter registration opportunities to reach tens of thousands of voters who may not register otherwise. Supervisor Fawkes is encouraging all United States Citizens residing in the Virgin Islands to visit the Elections Offices and register to vote.

SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS ISSUES STATEMENT REGARDING REINSTATEMENT LETTERS

Bill 34-0230 was passed by the Honorable 34th Legislature of the Virgin Islands on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, and signed into law by the Honorable Governor. An Act amending title 18 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 5, section 110, relating to registration of electors to require the Supervisor of Elections to compile an active vs. inactive voter’s list within 90 days after each General Election starting with the General Election in 2022. An amendment was made to make this bill take enactment once the Governor signs the bill.
