US VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. on Thursday declared June 19 a holiday in the U.S. Virgin Islands following the announcement by President Joseph R. Biden establishing the date as a federal holiday.
Governor Bryan’s announcement came after legislation establishing the Juneteenth holiday was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden on Thursday afternoon.

The Board of Elections is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Terrell Alexandre as the St. Croix Deputy Supervisor, in accordance with VIC 18, Section 4.
Mr. Alexandre graduated with a Master’s degree in Public Administration in 2013 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 2012 from the University of the Virgin Islands.
Mr. Alexandre has served as the Administrative Assistant for the Board of Elections for the last seven years and has also acted as the Deputy Supervisor during two election cycles, 2018 and 2020.
The Supervisor of Elections, Caroline F. Fawkes, is announcing the upcoming Election Equipment New/Refresher Training for the system Voting Technicians. In keeping with its Motto- FAIR, ACCESSIBLE, SECURE AND TRANSPARENT Elections, the public is invited to the Open House. This Training will take place on December 16th at 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, in the St. Thomas Elections Office Conference Room and conducted by Elections System and Software Representative. We are asking the public to take advantage of this opportunity to get an in depth understanding of the functions of the voting machines.

On Saturday, November 7, 2020, the Board of Elections resumed counting the 2020 General Election Absentee Ballots. In the St. Croix District, 677 absentee ballots were counted to date. In the St. Thomas-St. John District, 906 absentee ballots were counted to date. This represent the majority of absentee ballots sent to voters.
